What is a Trauma Exposed Professional?

A Trauma Exposed Professional (TExP) is an individual who, through the course of their regular job duties is continually exposed to traumatic events involving actual or threatened: death, serious injury, and/or sexual violence (PTSD Criterion A, DSM-5, APA, 2013).

TExPs include but are not limited to the following professions:

  • Canadian Armed Forces

  • Veteran

  • Police Officer

  • Firefighter

  • Paramedic

  • Public Safety Communicators

  • Corrections Workers

  • Security Officer

  • Search and Rescue Personnel

  • Health Care Workers
